661 Comp Glove 2009
661 Comp Glove 2009

Gloves should do two basic things when you are riding. The first thing they should do is simply protect your hand without inhibiting your performance. The second thing they should do is actually improve comfort and performance while you ride. There is at least one glove out there that is recognized as a quality option for both bicycle and motorcycle. That glove is the 661 Comp Glove 2009.
To read what riders have to say is like finding a welcome mat in front of a home. You know that you have found a glove that is worth trying on once you understand what this glove is. To oversimplify and get most of the info into this we will divide the glove into three parts. Those parts will be the fingers (thumb included joker), the palm and the back of the hand (cuff included). So, here is what the 661 Comp has to offer in the three areas.
As for the fingers they are in for a treat. That treat is protection in the form of full finger coverage. That coverage is not limited to the mesh cover though. You actually get some synthetic leather to add a little grip. For real protection 661 has added TPR rubber. You get impact protection and breathability for your precious little digits. The thumbs are reinforced, because when we face it, we know we wear them there.
Beyond the fingers there are the palms and the synthetic leather cover extends all the way down over these landing skids. There is extra padding though so the jolts of the front wheel have something to talk to even if you are riding a stiff frame. Despite all that synthetic leather you can still throw these gloves in the washing machine if that is what you really want to do.
Around on the backside where the only thing beating is usually the sun you find maximum breathability. That is thinks to the Spandura mesh. That name is a dandy, but 661 has learned that it works and so they used it in the Comp gloves. Nothing to it. You get total coverage all the way down to the cuff where the glove seals with velcro.
In all this is one of the appreciated gloves among two wheel enthusiasts. The 2009 is inexpensive right now thanks to the change to the 2010 stock. You can find these gloves online for less than twenty dollars in many cases. There are still multiple colors available in many cases. Taking advantage of the opportunity could leave you outfitted for the year even if your enthusiasm is big enough for two or more bikes. These are fitted gloves with specific sizes though, so finding what you need sooner rather than later may be a good idea.
